Freedom is the birthright of a human.  It is a part of prosperity and development of a country. But it is not easy to achieve. After a long history of twenty-three years of exploitation and deprivation, we have achieved independence.  Then there were two paths in front of us.  Either to endure deprivation and oppression or to stand up to the enemy.  And we, the ever-independent Bengalis, stood up against the autocratic Pak army under the leadership of Bangabandhu. Gaining this victory has never been easy. We have achieved this victory with the blood of 3 million martyrs and the honor of more than two lakh mothers and sisters and Bangladesh has been established as an independent country on the world map.  Even today many countries in the world remain subjugated, but the Bengalis never bowed down to subjugation.  That is why today we can breathe in the chest of an independent country.

Victory Day is a feeling deep in our hearts that inspires us to move forward, to fight against injustice forever.  If the heroic children of Bengal had not fought for their rights and tolerated all injustices in silence 50 years ago, we would still be submissive. This victory was not possible by anyone's efforts alone, this victory is for all of us.

In the 50th year of the victory, we pay our heartfelt respects to all the heroic freedom fighters and people of all walks of life who have sacrificed their lives or cooperated in various ways to snatch our freedom from the face of the enemy.

স্বাধীনতা মানুষের জন্মগত অধিকার। এটি একটি দেশের সমৃদ্ধি এবং উন্নয়নের অংশ। কিন্তু এটি অর্জন করা সহজ নয়। দীর্ঘ তেইশ বছরের শোষণ এবং বঞ্চনার ইতিহাসের পর আমরা অর্জন করেছি স্বাধীনতা। তখন আমাদের সামনে ছিল দুটি পথ। হয় বঞ্চনা ও অত্যাচার সহ্য করা নয়তো শত্রুর সামনে রুখে দাঁড়ানো। আর আমরা, চির স্বাধীনচেতা বাঙালীরা বঙ্গবন্ধুর নেতৃত্বে স্বৈরাচারী পাক সেনার বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়াই। এ বিজয় লাভ কখনোই সহজ ছিল না। ৩০ লাখ শহীদের রক্ত ও দুই লাখেরও বেশি মা-বোনের সম্মানের বিনিময়ে আমরা এই বিজয় অর্জন করেছি। বিশ্বের মানচিত্রে স্বাধীন দেশ হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে বাংলাদেশ। আজও পৃথিবীতে বহু দেশ পরাধীন রয়ে গিয়েছে, কিন্তু বাঙালিরা কখনো পরাধীনতার কাছে মাথা নত করেনি। তাইতো আজ আমরা স্বাধীন দেশের বুকে নিঃশ্বাস ফেলতে পারছি।  

বিজয় দিবস আমাদের হৃদয়ের গভীরে থাকা এমন এক অনুভূতি যা আমাদের সামনে এগিয়ে চলার অনুপ্রেরণা দেয়, চিরকাল অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে সংগ্রাম করার সাহস দেয়। আজ থেকে ৫০ বছর আগে যদি বাংলার বীর সন্তানরা নিজের অধিকারের জন্য লড়াই না করত, চুপ করে সব অন্যায় সহ্য করত, তবে আজও আমরা পরাধীন থাকতাম। এ বিজয় কারো একার প্রচেষ্টায় সম্ভব হয়নি, এ বিজয় আমাদের সবার।

বিজয়ের ৫০ তম বছরে অন্তরের অন্তস্থল থেকে প্রাণঢালা সম্মান জানাই সকল বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা এবং সর্বস্তরের মানুষদের যারা নিজেদের জীবন উৎসর্গ করে বা নানাভাবে সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমে, শত্রুর মুখ থেকে আমাদের  স্বাধীনতা কেড়ে এনেছেন।
